Is Clickbank A Scam?
Many people ask is Clickbank a scam. The short answer to this question is a definitive, “No!” That, however, does not address the issue of why they ask this question in the first place.
Nobody asks if Google Adwords is a scam, though many question its effectiveness. Why do they ask if Click bank is? There are a lot of reasons for this. One of the biggest reasons is that a lot of the products that are available on Clickbank are scams. Clickbank doesn’t filter who can or cannot use them, so many people who throw together useless digital products sell them via Clickbank because it is so easy to do.
If you look through all the Clickbank products, you will find hundreds of affiliate marketing offers, most of which turn out to be scams. Many of them follow a similar pattern. They advertise themselves as “turnkey” systems that allow you to make big money for very little effort. For a modest monthly subscription fee, you are given “your own website.” This turns out to be a single page that advertises nothing but the same product you have just subscribed to. At the same time, you will be offered a discount on a “viral marketing” service, usually an automated article submitter. Of course, they get a commission when you subscribe to this “service.”
In the end, what you have done is pay them money to do something they should be paying you for. Yes, if you work hard enough, you may make some modest commissions, but the lion’s share of the profits go to them. Unfortunately, Clickbank gets blamed for this and people call it a scam.
Clickbank can be a great way to break into internet marketing, both for product developers and affiliates. It depends entirely on how you use it. If you have a product you believe in but don’t have the budget to promote it, Clickbank can be one way of getting it noticed. If you want to affiliate with one of these businesses, Clickbank is an easy way to do so.
Another complaint Clickbank gets is that they only pay by cheque. This is only partly true. After your credibility has been established, you can get paid by direct deposit. It would be nice if they could pay through Paypal or something similar, but that might just encourage the scammers more.
When you look at the facts, you will know that Clickbank is not scamming anybody. You just need to be aware that it is used by scammers and that its reputation suffers as a consequence. If used legitimately, it can be a valuable way to get into internet marketing.
