Before Making The Purchase: A Guide To Choosing The Best Electric Patio Heater For Your Home

By: Kenny F Leichester

There are many benefits of having outdoor patio heaters. Outdoor heaters have come a long way since their appearance in restaurants and pubs. More are finding them useful so they began to search for the best ones of their own. Before you buy yours, there are a few things you need to know before choosing a one. Here are some useful tips for you.
SPACE
Where your heater should be greatly determines the type you should have. This will conclude the type of heater, whether it is a mounted heater, placed in the centre of a table or mobile heater. So, before you find a one, you should survey the area of the heater.
There are five main types of heaters. They are Freestanding, the Mobile, the Table Top, the Open Pit, and the Wall Mounted heaters. They all have their pros and cons though depending on its usage. A freestanding heater will be easy to move, especially when you are redecorating. Open pit heaters will give you that feeling of being up in the mountains. The most elegant heater is the wall-mounted heater as they have a luxurious appeal.
HEAT
You should know how far the heat of a heater can go up to. If you don’t know for sure, ask the salesperson. It is not cost effective to buy electric patio heaters with limited heating capacity for your patio area.
There are two types of heat a heater can project. One is in a straight line and the other is covering certain radius. Therefore, the place where you place the heater will be crucial to determine the type you are going to buy. There are also heaters that will warm people and objects instead of air. These are better as they wont be affected by the wind.
SAFETY
Automatic shut off features can instantly turn off the outdoor patio heaters so as to prevent them from overheating. Majority of outdoor heaters have this. To avoid breakout of fire, the heaters are also equipped with tilt shut off buttons. Other than these features, the patio heaters also come with heat adjustment buttons. Some heaters now come with Ingress Proof readings, which will require you to pay more because you are ‘getting more’. You must make sure that they could be replaced when needed because if they can’t, you may well have to buy a new heater.
BUDGET
A wall mounted heater could cost about a thousand dollars. It’s a hefty price to pay if you only use them for a barbeque in winter. A cheaper option would be a mobile or freestanding heater, costing around two hundred dollars. An expensive heater doesn’t mean it’s the best one. A heater could have many features that you will probably never ever use. You should assess what you really need in a heater and focus on finding a heater with these features. After all, why spend on something that will become redundant later on.
Patio heaters come in a diversity of style, shapes and sizes. You can flip through all the catalogues you have and maybe fall in love with a few. However, will they really be the best one for your home? Something that suit other people’s home might not suit yours. Its to you the style and design matters most because you are the one who will be spending the most time in front of it.
